Underwrite and assess credit quality of consumer loans, including home equity lines and loans, personal loans, check protections and subordination requests. Collaborate with processor team to ensure a clear understanding of required underwriting guideline conditions to ensure a quality customer experience. Communicate with other internal partners during the lending life cycle.
Key responsibilities:
• Review and analyze entire loan application, credit report, income, and asset documentation, title verification, and fraud review.
• Efficiently manage pipeline of loans, including follow up to ensure a time lending decision.
• Review loan applications for counteroffers and escalate underwriter exceptions when warranted.
• Monitor compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements.
• Ensure accuracy of HMDA data for reporting.
• Review and decision subordination requests in accordance with the underwriting guidelines.
Skills/experience qualifications:
• High school diploma/GED required, bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
• 2-3 years of experience in consumer loan underwriting.
• Knowledge of consumer and/or conventional mortgage writing conventions.
• Understanding of loan origination process.
• PC skills to include Microsoft Word and Excel.
The estimated salary range for this position is $27.00 to $33.00 USD an hour. Actual salary may vary up or down depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position is eligible for incentive compensation.
